Vocal Warm-Up Tips

Most singing classes, if not all, start with some kind of warm-up exercise.

There are many styles and ways to warm up, but what is the reason for engaging warm-up exercises anyways?, and what are some ways of ensuring it stays effective?

The Importance of Warm-Up exercises

Singing involves every part of our body, including the many muscles we have. These muscles are what needs warming up and preparation to ensure flexible movement before the actual ‘work-out’ begins, in this context, before we sing.

Vocal warm-ups and Scale exercises help you focus on specific areas of singing such as pitch control, breath support, voice tone, enunciation and rhythm.

As you progress through each warm-up, one step at a time, it will begin to serve as a time for you to awaken your senses and get in to the mood toward singing as well.

Whether you had a good day or a bad day, warming up will allow you to reset your mental, emotional and physical state to be ready and prepared to sing.
